I ordered our Tapestry books for Unit 4 this week. UPS says they will be delivered on Tuesday. I am so excited to see them.
You see, this has been a long time coming. I planned our whole year last June and tweaked things a bit in July and August. I look at whether our local library system has the book (or something similar), and then I put together the list of books that I need to buy and a few that I want to buy. I ordered books for Units 1-3 together. It was their free shipping incentive that got me that far. I like to space things out so the cost doesn't get so overwhelming. So after Christmas I started to review my need/want list for the last unit....and I waited until January to put them into my cart online....and then I waited until it was February to get a discount...and finally I ordered! Now I can't wait for them to arrive at my door.
I wonder if books will ever go out of style. Will the iPad and Nook replace paper and ink? It sounds very environmentally friendly, doesn't it? But there is something about holding a book...seeing a familiar illustration...turning a page...that I hope is always available. Books are teachers, time machines, works of art, friends, encouragers, emotional, spiritual. I can't imagine not having books.
And I still can't wait for Tuesday!
