First Quarter Complete!

So it looks like the pictures came first...so enjoy my little wild things!

This is Micaiah helping with our candy corn cookies. It may become an annual thing for us...we're already on a second year.

We have made it one-fourth of the way through our first year of homeschooling. We have had our share of ups and downs and many frustrations, but we are learning how to get along 24-7. I have learned that I need to be more authoritative on what needs to be done when...and the addition of our behavior blocks as helped, too.

We have chosen to forego any big end-of-quarter celebration. The boys are saving their money to buy a Wii and have been given the option of using the celebration money to go towards the Wii. They have chosen wisely. We will still have a special eat-out and take one week off regular school schedule.

Lentil Stew and the Travelling Table

As we finished reading through Genesis,
Benjamin had a couple of projects to help bring to life how the Patriarchs lived. The first was to make a travelling table that would turn into a carrying pouch when it was time to move camp.

The second was to make lentil stew. The recipe we followed was mostly carrots...and I thought it was really quite good. The boys, however, had a different opinion! With or without them knowing, the rest of the lentil stew will be added to our beef vegetable soup we are having for supper tomorrow! :)
We will finish our first quarter the last week of October. Our academic progress is really good...we have more work to do on adjusting to homeschool days. I have found that I need to institute a more rigid schedule and hold them to a higher standard of showing respect. I will be quite busy the next few weeks with grandparents coming and co-op classes starting, that I think I may have to leave the blog alone for a bit. I will definately have some first quarter wrap-ups by the end of the month!
